"This is the show to hit" -- The Village Voice, on the band's CBGB debut in December 2005

Dangerous Kid is the collision of three musicians: Jay Rapoport(piano/vocals/songwriting), Matt Dosberg (bass), and Paul Withers (drums).  Formed in 2005 in Washington DC and now also based out of NYC, this trio brings quality songwriting, musicianship, and passion back to rock & roll, with a little mischief thrown in to shake things up. Every song pulses with Jay’s piano pounding, Paul’s complex rhythms, and Matt’s funk-inspired grooves. Taking cues from Ben Folds Five, Billy Joel, and Maroon 5, they make pop music without the sugarcoating. Their debut EP "On The Loose" was released in November 2005, and the single, "Not Gonna Call," is the MySpace profile download all the cool kids have.  The new full-length Dangerous Kid album, The Day Has Come" was released in winter 2007.  Dangerous Kid is out of control and wreaking havoc in a town near you.

Jay started playing piano by ear at five years old, and was a professional pianist by age 19.  He attended Berklee School of Music in Boston, where he was an award-winning singer-songwriter, and was named one of America's "100 Best College Performers" in Mastercard ACTS Talent Search.  A fan of pop as well as underground rock, Jay counts Gavin Degraw, Tori Amos, Ben Folds Five, Radiohead, and Jason Mraz among his influences.  He honed his piano, vocal, and songwriting talents with several bands before founding Dangerous Kid.

A passionate singer, Jay has a penchant for heart-on-sleeve ballads complimented by a wicked sense of wordplay, and he can be found alternately pounding on his piano or playing with quiet intensity.  After living in the DC area all his life, Jay moved to New York City in 2005, and the events leading up to the move were reflected in Dangerous Kid's debut "On The Loose".

Paul was born in DC and starting playing drums as soon as he could reach the pedals.  After drumming in metal bands Umber, Binge, Damn Greg Band, MTF, and Indica Jones, he started jamming with Jay in late 2004.

Matt is from Buffalo, NY and started playing bass at age 13.  He played in a Charleston, SC funk band before joining Dangerous Kid.  Matt is known for his outrageous fashion sense, his adventurous spirit, and his hilarious stage antics.

The new album, "The Day Has Come" is the story of Jay's first year in New York, and the band recorded it at Colorblind Studios in Nashville, Tennessee with producer John Hefley.  The songs were refined at Jay's weekly solo residency at Bar 169 on the lower east side of Manhattan.  "The Day Has Come" features Jay on lead and harmony vocals, piano, organ, Wurlitzer, and harmonica, along with Matt on bass and acoustic guitar, and Paul on drums, and special guest Steve Herrman on trumpet.
